MaryBeth Bailar, PsyD

Dr. MaryBeth Bailar is a clinical neuropsychologist practicing in Pinehurst, North Carolina. She received her doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2010 and completed clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship training in neuropsychology and neurorehabilitation at VA Boston Healthcare System, with concurrent academic appointments at Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Bailar previously worked at NYU Medical Center’s Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation, neurology clinics in Connecticut and North Carolina, and for US Special Operations Command. She had the honor and privilege of standing up the first neuropsychology clinic embedded within an elite unit of USSOCOM. She also started the neuropsychology service at LeBauer Neurology/Cone Health Medical Group in Greensboro, NC. Alongside her former clinical positions in North Carolina, she maintained a small private practice in Apex, NC, since 2017. Dr. Bailar moved her practice from Apex to Pinehurst in April 2021.

Dr. Bailar has published scholarly works on topics such as capacity assessment and guardianship evaluation, and she has co-authored peer-reviewed articles on traumatic brain injury. She has also presented symposia and workshops at the local, state and national level.

Through her private practice in Pinehurst, Dr. Bailar provides neuropsychological evaluations for adults who are referred by their physician, due to cognitive concerns and/or neurologic disorders. Dr. Bailar has expertise in working with neurologic conditions that can affect brain function in later life. She also provides forensic or medico-legal evaluations to assist in determining an individual’s capacity (e.g., decision-making capacity, financial capacity, capacity to continue practicing as a physician). She is routinely retained by attorneys to provide expert witness on neuropsychological functioning and capacity.
